Choirs

Alongside workshops and special events, I lead regular
community choirs in and around Manchester. These
groups meet consistently and form warm, supportive
singing communities.

I lead community choirs in and around Greater Manchester. Scroll down for details. There are no auditions and no need to read music – songs are taught by ear, and the focus is on enjoying the experience of singing together. Inclusivity is at the heart of the work I do, and as such, my choirs and events are open to all abilities, voices and genders, and are LGBTQ+ inclusive and supportive. If you have any access or support needs, please get in touch.

People come for many reasons: to enjoy singing, to meet others, or simply to have a regular space in their week that feels grounding and enjoyable.

Manchester Community Choir

Manchester Community Choir

Manchester's oldest community choir has been running since 1999. I began working with the choir in 2019 and it is a joy to lead such a warm, inclusive singing community. With around 100 singers on the books, we sing a wide range of musical styles, all in beautiful four part harmony - and we make a great sound! We perform regularly around Manchester and beyond. The choir meets in Didsbury on Sunday afternoon (once per month) and Monday evening (twice per month). Come along for a free taster session and see what you think.

Golden Voices Community Choir

Golden Voices Community Choir

Golden Voices is a friendly community choir for anyone aged 50+ who wants to sing in a warm and inclusive group. We meet every Wednesday morning at the legendary Band on the Wall. We have around 30 members and sing a wide range of musical styles and welcome anyone regardless of experience. Many people come along having not sung for years and in this supportive setting, under experienced leadership, we make an impressively harmonious sound! Tea and biscuits (and often cake!) included.

What Singers have
Shared

About warmth, belonging, and singing
with ease.

“Rose is inspirational; she pushes us beyond our usual limits and we become greater than the sum of our parts. As a choir we perform better than ever. She kept us going during COVID and even now members can join online if unwell. New members joining is a tribute to her leadership.”

William

“Rose is the perfect Choir Director. She’s a very skilled musician and helps singers at all levels work together to produce a great sound. She inspires us through her abilities and her optimism, openness and warmth towards each of us.”

Brenda

“Rose’s enthusiasm and encouragement make singing hugely enjoyable. With skilful leadership and vocal tuition she coaxes from our amateur voices something very special indeed. Our ability to sing well together, in harmony and with joy, is testament to her inspiring teaching. We are extremely lucky to have her.”

Wendy

“When I joined Manchester Community Choir I wanted a Musical Director who would demand a high standard but still make rehearsals fun. Rose is patient but rigorous, encouraging us to stretch our vocal abilities and create beautiful harmonies. We are very lucky to have her as our leader.”
